Seventy people attended the Park Community School open evening last night. They heard Chapel St. CEO, Dr Russell Rook explain his vision for a school that is child centred, family focused and community oriented. Education Development Director (Primary), Jenell Chetty followed this with her insights on the need for a breadth and richness of education for our children, and how our educational values, of personalised learning and family involvement make a real different to children’s achievement. All of this is underpinned by a 21 century Christian ethos, where we welcome families from all faiths and none.
Parents were most interested in how they could become involved in the school and what difference it can make for their children. Chapel St. opened a Tyndale Community School in Oxford this September, and some of the parents from that primary school had complied a DVD about how they have found being part of a Chapel St school and what their children liked about it. One of the most interesting things to come out both from the meeting and the experience in Oxford is the value parents place on being involved in school.
Parents were reminded to apply for a place directly, on the website: parkcommunityschool.co.uk and were invited back for a further meeting on 2 December, where we’ll update them on the latest developments and hope to ask them to chose a logo for the school.
