Atherton Community School – Open Evenings Planned

Following the Department for Education’s recent announcement of plans for a new Free School in Atherton, Chapel St and the founding governors of Atherton Community School are planning a series of Open Evenings for the local community in the weeks ahead.

Parents, carers and community members are being invited along to hear more about the plans and preparations for the new school that will be opening in September 2012.  The first of these meetings are scheduled for 7.30 pm on the evenings of the 3rd and 17th November at Jubilee Hall Function Room, St Richard Parish Centre, Stanley Street, Atherton.

The purpose of the Open Evenings is to provide an opportunity for local people to hear more about the vision and ethos of the school, get the latest information on the curriculum, learn about the registration and admissions process, meet some of the Chapel St team and provide input on shaping the design of the school’s motto and emblem.

At Chapel St, listening to and involving the local community in our work is a real priority and we’re really excited about this series of open evenings. They will play a really important part in the creation of this new school.  Between now and the school’s opening, there are a lot of preparations to be made. We want to do all that we can to update people on progress, answer questions and hear what’s important to local families in the shaping of this new school. We hope that people will take the opportunity to come along, meet us and hear more,’ says Russell Rook, CEO of Chapel St.

The open evenings are free events and all are welcome. Community members can arrive on the evening, but if you wish to let us know you are coming, simply email us and we’ll add you to the list!
