Governors and Implementation Team

Atherton Community School will be developed and governed by the following groups.

The Governing Body will include:

Rev Robert Buckley (Chair). Local parish priest and former Headteacher at Twyford CE High School, Robert is heavily involved in local education, as a governor of three local Primary Schools and Chair of Governors at the newly opened Bolton St Catherine’s Academy.

Trevor Barton MBE. Former senior policeman, driving force of Leigh Sports Village, local businessman and CEO of Leigh Centurions Rugby Football League Club.

Michelle Risdale. Headteacher of Parklea Primary School and Chair of the Atherton Primary Schools Headteachers Group.

Lynn Hayes. Atherton community development worker and founder of the Green Grass Centre.

Mark Dudley. Local parent and longterm campaigner for a new secondary school in Atherton.

Josie Carter. Local teacher working in secondary education since 1967, specialising in raising attainment of under-achieving pupils.

Adrian Bright. Local minister and former chaplain at Hesketh Fletcher CoE High School, Adrian has worked with Chapel St and the local community to coordinate the Atherton Community School Steering Group.

The governing body will be joined by representatives of Fred Longworth High School, as educational partners in the ACS project.

Chapel St Schools Implementation Team

Dr Russell Rook (CEO). Russell has been working with community leaders, teachers, parents and residents to develop a new and transformational school for the children, parents and community of Atherton.

Aredi Pitsiaeli (Project Director). Formerly a Director of Oasis Community Learning, Aredi has led on the creation of 12 Academies from the Expression of Interest to school opening.

Justin Wilson (Education Advisor). As Academies Director for two consultancies over the last eight years Justin has direct and relevant experience of delivering over 40 Academy projects, many as education consultant working with sponsors, DfE and principals designate in developing the vision and secure school planning.

Jon Ward (Senior Project Manager). Jon has recently served as a Senior Project Manager for Cambridge Education, a Project Director for a multi-academy sponsor and an advisor to parent groups developing Free Schools.

Liz Russo (Education Development). Formerly a Deputy Headteacher, Liz works as a Local Authority Advisor implementing school improvement strategies, improving teaching and learning and developing data tracking systems in underperforming schools.
