This week saw the graduation ceremony from the first Together You Can programme – a community change initiative funded by the Big Lottery and delivered by Chapel Street in partnership with Grenfell Housing and Training and the YMCA.
Ten young adults, who only a few months ago found themselves struggling to find work, received their certificates from Stephen Hammond M.P. at a special reception at Portcullis House before taking a guided tour of the Houses of Parliament.
Russell Huphreys, the Chair of Grenfell Housing and Training, congratulated the graduates on their achievement. The Together You Can programme, which uses an innovative approach to employability training through experiential training, personal development and mentoring, has already seen four graduates find long term employment and the other graduates are well on their way.
As Stephen Hammond himself noted, with it’s collaborative approach and creative use of experts from across the private, public and voluntary sectors, “Together You Can is the kind of programme which government can’t deliver.”
Chapel St wishes all of the graduates, along with their mentors, all the very best as they step out on the next stage of this exciting adventure.
