Carolthon

ABOUT THE CAROLTHON

This Thursday 15th December, Chapel St are doing a Carolthon in London. It’s a running and carolling charity challenge that’s going to be stacks of fun! From dawn ’til dusk, we’ll be running 26 miles and stopping off to perform carols around the capital. It’s all to raise money for community health.

Our running team will run a marathon route around London and perform some carols along the way. Our brass band music team will play concerts throughout the day, adding some extra puff and pizazz to the carol concerts around the capital! It all kicks off with a breakfast gig at the Houses of Parliament.

PLEASE SUPPORT OUR CAROLTHON TEAM!

Hi. We’re Johnny, Jan and Russell and we’re part of the Carolthon team. On 15th December, along with other friends of Chapel St, you’ll be able to see us running and playing our way around London. Our aim is to raise as much money as possible from sponsorship and carol concert collections and we’d love your support. Please donate and share our story! Or just email carolthon@chapelst.org and we’ll get in touch!

WHAT’S THE ROUTE?

Starting with a special breakfast concert at the Houses of Parliament, our running team will then start their run route which will take in some great sights of London. Our music teams will take up their spots around London and be joined by the runners at different points throughout the day. We’ve got other concerts planned for Oxford Street, Regent Street, St Pancras station and Covent Garden.

WANT TO GET INVOLVED?

Run? Play? Fancy a Christmas Challenge? If you’d like to join the Carolthon Team on the day – we’d love to hear from you! Just email Chapel St and we’ll get in touch with all the details.

MIND THE HEALTH GAP? – WHY WE’RE RUNNING

Travelled on the tube? You’re always told to mind the gap. But did you ever think about the gap in health terms?  In London, the gap in life expectancy differs significantly between richer and poorer boroughs. Board the tube at Westminster and get off in Lambeth, and someones life just got shorter… By 7 years! At Chapel St, we think that’s a gap to mind. By supporting our Carolthon, you can help us do something about it.

WHAT DOES THE MONEY GO TO?

At Chapel St, we want to reduce the health gap that exists between resourced and under-resourced communities. Our goal is to raise £10k which we’ll use to help create community health programmes. In partnership with The Hurley Group, we currently run a health centre in Fulham and are developing other initiatives. The money we raise will help us create programmes that tackle the broader issues that can affect people’s health in challenged communities. From debt counseling, parenting workshops, improving care for drug and alcohol users, or addressing the needs of minority groups, our goal is to extend the reach of health provision more deeply in to community life.

By donating to Chapel St, you help to make these services a reality and enable us to reach out more effectively to vulnerable young families, the isolated elderly and other marginalised people in deprived areas. Together we can open doors of change in community health.
